I looked all over and could not find a similar thread. Could we start a thread dedicated to posting new gear, new to you gear, modifications of your gear, or any gear related pics you might want to share. Not only to show off but also as a mini compendium of gear.

The idea came to me as yesterday I found myself scouring the web looking for an Omega DII 4x5 condenser. See I have the condenser or well all the pieces but they were improperly assembled.

I'll start with a gratuitous SA shot. Cheers hope this takes off.

See I have the condenser or well all the pieces but they were improperly assembled.

An image of a condenser set, assembled and sitting by itself, does seem to be rare, but maybe a quick explanation is worth a single image:

Basically, there are four parts:

--Cylindrical housing
--Corrugated spacer
--2 condenser lenses – each is flat on one side, convex on the other

The corrugated spacer is placed inside the housing, fitting snugly around its inner wall.

The two lenses are placed inside the housing, so the two convex surfaces face each other in the middle, and the two flat surfaces are on the very bottom, and the very top.

The spacer is what keeps the convex surfaces from touching.

Hope this is visual enough and helps!

LOL! I have an Omega D-II (push me-pull you) I had gotten many moons ago for a pittance but that was all, I thought---just the enlarger & condensers & base board. It's been instorage ever since.
I'd found a 4x5 negative carrier and a 135 Omegaron. I also bought the correct red filter (ouch! That co$t a lot!) But I needed the correct lens cone.
The other day I was looking at the Omega, contemplating getting out of 4x5 and making someone a nice deal on a GV-II and the D-II, but that I'd need the lens cone for a complete "package" when I noticed there was one was already on board her!
I might as well keep them both.

Absolutely. And I did eventually get it fired up the right way after some forensics on eBay auctions lol. I will take a picture when I get home and upload it here in case some other lost printer might need it.

"LF gear images not often seen – but helpful" :D

For travel in the field + storage back home, here's how I protect the bellows for my Toyo 45c.

I use my Tachi 4x5 most of the time – but I love the Toyo 45c for complex movements.

The bellows always seem new every time I use them, and this is the simple reason why.

If it works for keeping left overs fresh, it should work for bellows:rolleyes:

Awesome idea. I'm on a crown graphic which might as well be a swiss army knife lol.

I have that same lens, I made my first 4x5 8x10 last night and even though I have heard bad reviews aboutbthe omegaron 135 I can tell you at least for 8x10 its a solid performer. I also have the top hat set, small condensor, and even a horizontal projection kit with vacuum easel lol. However I am missing the filter holder!

As promised the shots of an omega DII condensor for 4x5. Instructions for assembly have already been graciously provided.

Your images will be very helpful for new users of the Omega condenser enlarger.

It offers a nice view of the corrugated spacer around the inner wall of the housing.

For those who might ask, it goes in after you put in the first (lower) lens, and before you put in the second (upper) lens. I know this is a "porn" thread, but you don't want the two lenses to kiss!

I also have a complete set of the horizontal projection kit for the DII, maybe I'll post those next. I'd like to see what other obscurities you guys have out there.

I am a condenser enlarger lover. We have all types at school but a good old fashioned condenser is all I need.

I have no idea as to how this works.

My Patterson 4 reel tank developed a light leak still to be accurately found. So I but the bullet and found a used Nikkor steel tank to replace it. I'll post pics of that when it arrives too.

I'll add my new Chamonix:

I do need a better tripod, but that will have to wait a few months for my birthday!

Rodinal,

The aluminum lens board does indeed fit over the lens. The little thumb screw at the top of it engages the notch at the thin end of the mirror and allows you to project your negatives across some distance to a wall mounted easel for mural printing. Be sure to reverse the negative in the carrier. Your should be able to get further details and even a print out of the directions on line, possibly through classic-enlargers.com/omega_enlargers.htm.129182
