The guy has pulled his negative comments about this scanner and all mention of the fact that he had to return two of them! Is this pressure from the manufacturer? Thank god for the internet.

I just received my 4th scanner from them. So far they have gotten progressively worse each time. I will see how this one works.

Kirk,

According to the photo-i forum, Vincent's problem was that he did not recalibrate his replacement scanners. See this (http://www.photo-i.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.pl?s=41adf7e04405ffff;act=ST;f=36;t=286 ) for more info.

I hope this helps.

My mistake. Idid not see that. However.....

Recalibration may have been his problem but everyone that I have been sent I have recalibrated. Let me correct that-I have recalibrated and recalibrated and recalibrated ad nauseum. It is the first recommendation in the troubleshooting section under problems with streaking. It is the first thing that the less than knowledgeable people on the phone support suggest. I guess he failed to read that or contact them before he posted his nonsense.

Kirk,
I agree with you that the internet is a great way to get informed about a product before buying it. The problem is, I always seem to come across the negative stuff after I've already bought the product. While I have yet to experience any problems with my Canonscan 9950F, I sure wish someone had warned me not to buy the low-end color management equipment that I recently purchased.
