The nice thing is that there will be Chamonix cameras to see and touch and play with so you can see the quality.

"For those who wish to shoot portraits, please bring your 8x10 film holders loaded with your favorite film as cameras will be available to use."

This sounds exciting! I'm going to try to go but I won't be for sure until 2 weeks before

Tri Tran

If you are expecting professional models, then a certain quota of people attending must be met in order to fund them. Otherwise, there will be non-professional models at the event you can use.

One can sell the whole time. We are not strict about this. Easy going group and a lot if fun.

One can sell the whole time. We are not strict about this. Easy going group and a lot if fun.it's very tempting..I have about 12 tripods to get rid of and about 12 lenses I could sell

then I could go visit my kid at her college

long drive though

sounds fun but long drive

Jim Fitzgerald
14-Oct-2014, 18:16
Long drive??? I live in Oxnard! Easy on a Sunday. It will take me longer though as I can't take the Turbo. Need the small car for all of the stuff. Can't get the big camera in the Porsche.

DrTang
15-Oct-2014, 08:03
then up to Pomona..mess around..then back to santa barbara

so it ends up being about 3 extra hours on the road from santa barbara

but yeah.. if I thought I could get rid of 6 or 7 tripods.. I would for sure go

tripods are a tough sell on ebay

Jim you need a roof rack on the Porsche, or an Ansel Porsche porch on top.

Hi folks, keep me in your thoughts as you talk gear and such as you meet up.

Look....I am **really** looking for a good sharp lens that will cover 16x20 at infinity and not get into the diffraction zone too bad in order to do it and have some movements. Ideally it would be equal to a 135mm-150mm in 4x5. Basically about the only thing I am getting as a definitive answer is Sandy King recommending a Nikkor 450mm F9 M which would be great for the wider end of things, but anyone use one for landscapes in 16x20? In fact, does anyone even shoot landscapes that are at infinity at all with 16x20?....I am starting to wonder. 550XXL? No, its rare and very expensive although ideal.

Basically I am coming up relatively empty handed and I will shutter this idea in short order and skip buying a nice new Chamonix 16x20 camera and film holders if I have no glass to use it with.

So talk amongst your selves...help Hugo make a sale...:D

Hugo Zhang
17-Oct-2014, 13:07
Dan,

My mostly used 16x20 lens is a 24" red dot Artar in Ilex #5 shutter. It covers 16x20 at infinity and it is a normal lens. I bought it on Ebay for $500 a few years ago.

Don't worry too much about the lens. They are around. I will show you a few at our meeting in DV. :)

Kodachrome25

Just met with Hugo here in Death Valley, he showed me his awesome 16x20 camera, I showed him some prints and grease under my fingernails from repairing an out of control upper A arm that a snap ring was inadequately placed in. Nothing like doing 40mph in 4wd then having your front wheel fold in, lol!

Jose,

I think most of them spend more time on FB now. I have lost touch with many of them because they don't post here anymore. I guess we could do this if we have enough interested people to share the cost of renting a place.

I love to spend at least one day a year with other photographers in the area and we can just find a park, meet, talk, eat and drink.

I have been following this event for years and will try to make it this year to connect with others ULFers. Illinois is far but I think I can do it as a day trip.

Damn, a day trip!! Epic! I guess I'd have no excuse unless you pick the wrong day.

You need to check with Jim F., Hugo and Tri about whether the tent will suffice. Would there be room for displays of prints, equipment, etc. under protection?

Most likely it won't be enough. I fits few people. If we need to go bigger, we will have to get some cash for rental. Then, things will get complicated. I will be driving to the park tomorrow, and looking for alternatives. An alternative would be O'Neil Regional Park, which is also close by. They do have camping areas and lots of trees with picnic tables that would provide enough room.

If dealers provide a extra tent for the users, maybe!

The park has the picnic area . Tent will be nice but is not necessary in my opinion. We will shoot most of the time anyway. LF users can exchange cash for theirs equipment but no dealers set up for sale. Thanks you.
