Is there anyone out there with a Microtek i900 that would be willing to share some full resolution crops of color transparency scans? I'm interested in sharpness and detail (so it should be from a sharp original) as well as noise and dmax (so a crop with some deep shadow detail would be nice too). It's just so hard to judge this stuff from people's descriptions when everyone has a different opinion on what is acceptable. Crops of lower resolution scans (maybe down to 1200 dpi) would be ok as well as long as you indicate the scan resolution with the image.

If someone doesn't have a place to host the images, I'd be happy to host them on my website and share them with the group.

Thanks in advance...
Nosh

I don't scan transparencies. I have scanned a glass USAF resolution target, with and without glass, at various resolutions, and could send those round if anybody cares.

I plan to scan, both on the 8x10 glass and with glassless carriers, various step wedges, an IT-8, and so on. I will then pass the files and the calibration data onto a friend who has the next model "up" of MicroTek, and we can see how different they are.

I could also send round a crop of a scan of color negative, if people think that will be helpful.

Scans of resolution targets should be helpful. Scan of a color negative might be as well. Which higher end Microtek are you planning on testing? 1800F? (That probably represents the most I would possibly spend in the Microtek line).

You can see some samples from a i900 on Gary's website. He used his i900 on all of the images that you see on the website. Microtek has a gallery section on their website, but Gary's is specific to the i900.
