For the upcoming autumn season, I plan to try Ektachrome E100VS for the foliage. What is the usual EI in 4x5 format? I know the E100G actually rates at 100 under sunlight, but I have never tried the E100VS before.

John,

E100VS is my "staple" film in 4x5. I shoot it at 100, but at what speed you rate a film depends on your light meter type and technique IMO. My method for normal (typically overcast, late evening, early morning) scenes is to shoot it at 100 and meter reading, then another at 1/3 stop less. One of these exposures is usually dead on and often both are quite usable. I usually use a Gossen Luna Pro-S in reflected mode.

I also rate E100VS at 100 and it is usually results in a good exposure. I am using a Pentax Digital Spot Meter. Like Steve said, your meter and metering technique will come into play, but you should be in the ballpark at EI 100.
