Anyone know the differences between the dichro Saunders LPL 4550 XLG and the 4550 XL enlarger? Is it just baseboard size? I found a new 4550 XL for about 1600 USD and am trying to figure out if it is a good deal or not. Never bought and enlarger before but used one of the 4500-II's and thought the

Anion,

The XLG has a longer column, larger baseboard, and a 250 watt light (as opposed to 150 watt). If you are doing large format photography I would recommend the XLG.

Michael, Thank you for your kind reply. I am indeed doing 4x5 b&w printing. The lamp does seem a bit weak for that. Thank you for giving me much needed information!

Mmmm. I just checked with them and they said it had a 250W lamp but confirm that the baseboard is 60x60cm.

I have a Jobo-LPL enlarger model 7451. It comes with a 200W-bulb.
