In a nutshell I want to mount a 45 and a digicam(to act of polaroid) on one tripod.

So far I thought of a Manfrotto 131DDB Tripod Accessory Arm for Four Heads (Black) Mfr# 131DDB

or some sort of Bogen magic arm/super clamp/ballhead combo

or something like this;

Have any one try do the same thing and came up with a different solution?

Yes. Put a hot shoe mount/cold shoe mount on top of the front standard. Get a tiny ball head w/cold shoe mount to stick in that.

hmm, I was thinking using my DSLR, but I suppose the wife's little digicam can put to good use too. Thanks Vinny.

I forgot to say, I am using a Deardorff so the front standard may not hold up a ball-head and a digicam.

Bogen makes a dual-camera arm:

not cheap though, but I'd take a good guess that it's much stronger and long-lasting than your ebay linked one

I have Bogen camera arm with four 3/8" screw platforms and they work well for the purpose. Very sturdy and can easily handle an 8x10 camera and a MF DSLR if need to be or an 8x10 and a 4x5 camera ;-)

Why don't you just keep the same quick release on each camera and swap them out?

If you want to shoot both simultaneously(like shooting video on a DSLR, "behind the scenes" stuff maybe?) or if you simply don't want to have to un-mount and re-mount the camera repetitively :)

I have one of these - it's sturdy, but not studry enough for a deardorf on one side

I do like the magic arm and small digi concept though

I did that once with a Kodak 2D. Mounted the 8x10 on the tripod using the threaded hole in the bed and mounted an old flash bracket to the tripod sliding block which was slid out to the front end of the bed. Using the digicam dowsn't really suit me (do what works for you), but this did work for me with small strobes for macro shots.. . .and, yes, balance/stability was an issue.

Very easy. Novoflex makes three long Arca compatible plates with the Arca profile on both the top and the bottom of the plate. So it can be screwed to a head or mounted directly to an Arca compatible QR. Novoflex also makes double sided Arca type QR bases that can both mount to an Arca plate and still accept a camera with an Arca plate so it is very easy to position one camera to another by just sliding the bases along the long plate. The long plates are available from 10 to almost 18" long. The attachment only illustrates the shortest version. The longest one will easily accomodate your system.
