The Midwest Large Format Asylum will host it's 7th annual portfolio showing on Saturday, January 25, 2014, in Chesterton, Indiana. Get some prints ready & join us.

We will start at 9 am and will look at portfolios of images made with a large format camera (large format capture is our only requirement). We draw names out of a hat to determine order & look at one portfolio at a time which gives the photographer a chance to talk about their work. We will average between 15 and 20 portfolios. It is a long & exhausting day, but very enjoyable and rewarding. There is no judging...just looking & enjoying. We supply the lighting...you supply the photographs.

As we have photographers that come from Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, & Ohio, Chesterton is a good mid-way location. Most of us will arrive Friday night & stay until Sunday. We will be at the Best Western Indian Oaks. More information can be found at our website:

Hope to see you on Saturday, January 25th.

Only one week away now. If you are within driving distance of northern Indiana, I hope you will put together some prints (20 or less seems to be about average) & come & show them off. (No judging...only enjoying) Our only requirement is that the image was captured by a large format camera. If you don't have prints but enjoy the beauty of LF photographs, no worries, come and enjoy the day. We start a 9 & go all day. Lunch is $10 and is catered in. Again, we are at the Best Western Indian Oaks in Chesterton, Indiana this Saturday, January 25, 2014. Admission is free.

Because of the weather & lake effect snow in that area, many come on Friday & stay until Sunday. We will all go out for an informal dinner Friday & Saturday nights. It is also not unusual that you will see us at Peggy Sue's for breakfast as well each morning.

Hope you will consider joining us. More information can be found at www.midwestlargeformat.com in the forum section (you will need to register but it is free).

Weather permitting I plan to make it over on Saturday. This is a great event and seems to get better every year. You get to see a variety of prints and come home inspired to keep carrying around that heavy camera.
