I am trying to get the metalwork off the rear standard of an Ansco 10x8, but they appear to be riveted through the wood. The metalwork needs a good clean and the wood needs all the lumps of glue removing and to be taken back to bare wood.

I could drill out the end of the riveting, but then it wouldn't go back on, so can anybody offer any advice?

Many thanks for that link, i'll file them off and put a tap down the middle for now, which is a brilliant idea and one that I hadn't thought of.
